Language requirements for UNIZA students

According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the starting level for learning a foreign language at all faculties of the University of Žilina is level B1.

After enrolment, all students in the 1st year of bachelor's degree study take an online test in English or German to determine their current level of language competence.

  • If the student's level of language competence according to the entrance testing reaches the level of B2 or C1, he/she has the opportunity to take one of the international examinations at the Authorised Centre for Cambridge English language examinations.

TARGET LEVEL OF LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS upon completion of foreign language education at all faculties of the University of Žilina is the completed level B2 supplemented with a PROFESSIONAL foreign language for advanced learners. Graduates of education will demonstrate their level of knowledge and skills through midterm and final exams that are defined in the requirements for students in individual faculties.
