NATIONAL VOLUNTEERING WEEK: 16 – 22 SEPTEMBER 2022
Our U3A UNIZA is also actively involved in the national Volunteering Week every year. This year it was a practical workshop called: Personal growth of a volunteer - senior. At the meeting of active seniors - volunteers from U3A UNIZA on 19 September 2022, under the guidance of the lecturer Michaela Bedrichová from the Žilina Volunteer Centre, they reflected together on the strengths and weaknesses of their personalities. Together, they named their individual and team talents and skills, which they can use for volunteer work, especially at intergenerational workshops in primary and secondary schools in Žilina. The meeting was a motivating start to the new academic year 2022/2023, in which U3A UNIZA again and fully plans to organize its volunteering in education under the Quality Mark.

QUALITY MARK
In 2019, U3A UNIZA was awarded the Quality Mark - a higher standard of volunteer management. After three years of successful activities in the field of volunteering in education, the Quality Mark at U3A UNIZA was defended again in 2021, and its validity was extended until 2024. We are therefore looking forward to further creative activities in volunteerism at U3A UNIZA. Especially in intergenerational learning and in the creation of the magazine Schody (Stairs).
THANKS TO THE VOLUNTEERS

Workshop: UNIQUE OR OBVIOUS?
At this intergenerational workshop, volunteers in education at U3A UNIZA together with students of the Secondary Vocational School of Agriculture and Rural Services in Žilina searched for answers to the following and similar questions: Do you know where the village of Liptovská Teplička is located? Do you know what makes it special? The result of the meeting of two generations on the topic of getting to know this interesting village are leaflets, information sheets, a poem, and other promotion for potential visitors to the village.
The workshop took place within the framework of the project "Landscape Images" in cooperation and with the support of the Žilina Self-Governing Region.

Workshop: THE TIMES ARE CHANGING, BUT ETIQUETTE REMAINS
On 24 June 2019, our volunteers in education met with secondary grammar school students at the workshop, where they worked together to address issues of etiquette, respect, and decency. While comparing their views, they always tried to find a compromise that was acceptable to both generations. They learned first-hand that intergenerational dialogue breaks down barriers and prejudices.
