Cycle of open lectures and discussions at U3A in Žilina

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the University of the Third Age of the University of Žilina, a cycle of lectures and discussion forums called "20 Steps to Knowledge" was carried out in the academic year 2015/2016. It was based on key competences for lifelong learning and offered interesting topics through interesting people. As it met with a positive response from the audience - students of U3A UNIZA, as well as participants from the public, it freely continued in the academic year 2016/2017  and in the academic year 2017/2018 with a cycle of open lectures called "Paths of Knowledge". In the academic year 2018/2019, the cycle had the subtitle ... in its element.... In the academic year 2019/2020, 5 lectures were held as part of the Paths of Knowledge cycle . In the next year 2020/2021, the cycle was realized in a new (online) form under the name "One of us" ("Jeden, jedna z nás").

Paths of Knowledge in the academic year 2022/2023

The University of the Third Age UNIZA has prepared, for the new academic year 2022/2023, a cycle of lectures and discussions on the Paths of Knowledge, with the subtitle follow the PERSONALITY of Slovakia (za OSOBNOSŤOU Slovenska).

Participants will get to know the secrets of the natural sciences through the stories of the giants of Slovak science. They will get acquainted with the personalities and works of Slovak inventors: Stodola, Murgaš, and Petzval. They will also take a look into the lives and works of personalities of Slovak film, sports, music, history, and the giants of Slovak literature. In eight lectures, students of the U3A, its supporters, and guests from the public will uncover known - unknown stories that have left their mark in the history of Slovakia and the world. They have become an inspiration for new generations.
